Welcome to Kettering Amateur Swimming Club

Kettering Swimming Club is the premium competitive club within Kettering and the surrounding areas. We are a dynamic and exciting club with a long and proud history. Originally based at the Victoria Baths in Bath Lane Kettering, we moved to our present site on London Road in 1984.

Founded on the 15th of December 1914 the Kettering Men’s Swimming and Water Polo Club had 40 swimmers and 20 committee members. Membership to the club at the time cost 2 shillings and 2 pence (around 12.5p) and pool hire for 1 gala was 1 Guinea (about £1.05). Today’s galas take a minimum of 3 hours pool hire and it costs £60 per hour.

As you all probably know, Kettering pool is currently closed because of issues with the ceiling/roof. We currently do not know exactly when the pool will reopen. Consequently we are urgently looking at contingency plans so that we lose as little pool time as possible. As we confirm the changes I will send out emails on a squad by squad basis so please look out for emails, Facebook posts and the website to keep up to date. This is obviously a very complicated process so at present we can’t work too far ahead on changes so please bear with us. When we have information about how long the pool will actually be closed for we can then plan further ahead.

We know that some changes may be difficult for parents to manage but do consider car sharing as a possibility

Perhaps this will persuade the council that we need a new pool – please feel free to email them what you think. We are working closely with Councillor Scrimshaw to get the cross party working group up and running  to look at the way forward – the first meeting of the group was last Wednesday so maybe this was a timely event!!! It took less than 24 hours to get the closure into the local news so the council ( as the pool landlords) have had to take notice, finally.

Because of the closure, we have taken the decision to cancel the open day for now and hope to go ahead with it at a future date.

Best regards

We will also endeavour to keep the website up-to-date so please check the News section.

Jacqueline Farrow - Head Coach

Profile to follow soon!

Gemma Simms – Junior Head Coach

Since the beginning of January 2016 I have taken on the role of Junior Head Coach. Most of you know me as I was previously Assistant Junior Head Coach. Claire wanted to
spend more time at her Sports Therapy Clinic and after
completing my qualifications and Sports Coaching degree I
decided coaching swimming was the career path for me.

I’ve been a member of the club since I was 7 so for
nearly 17 years! I started as a beginner and like many of you worked my way up to the senior squads. I swam in galas, open meets, county, regional and national (Welsh) competitions.

I am looking forward to spending many more years at the club as a swimmer and
more importantly a coach. The club as a whole is doing fantastically well at the minute and it is great to be a part of that. Onwards and upwards for KASC!
