Welcome to Kettering Amateur Swimming Club

Kettering Swimming Club is the premium competitive club within Kettering and the surrounding areas. We are a dynamic and exciting club with a long and proud history. Originally based at the Victoria Baths in Bath Lane Kettering, we moved to our present site on London Road in 1984.

Founded on the 15th of December 1914 the Kettering Men’s Swimming and Water Polo Club had 40 swimmers and 20 committee members. Membership to the club at the time cost 2 shillings and 2 pence (around 12.5p) and pool hire for 1 gala was 1 Guinea (about £1.05). Today’s galas take a minimum of 3 hours pool hire and it costs £60 per hour.

Please click here for information about attending swimming galas.

County Championships
It is time for the 2017 county championships so here is all the information you need. It will be held at Corby pool over 28/29 Jan, 11/12 Feb and 18 Feb 2017. This is being held in a long course 50 metre pool and a great opportunity to aim for a regional qualifying time. There will also be club relays which you may be asked to participate in.
Attached are the qualifying times that you will need to obtain , if you need a time please ask your coach. Age for this event is as of 31/12/2017.
Please read the swimmers guide information carefully before you fill in your entry form which is also attached. It will help you understand which sub-age groups you/your child will be in and which events are scheduled when. If you need assistance with this please ask.
Each event costs £5 and all entry forms with either cash or a cheque made out to Kettering Amateur swimming club need to be returned to your coach, myself or Amanda before 9th January 2017.
I encourage all of you to enter if you have qualifying times, as its a great event for our club and team to enter.
There is always a great atmosphere and a lot of fun is had by all as well as lots of pb opportunities.
If you have any problems or questions please ask or email me on   This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Jacqueline Farrow - Head Coach

Profile to follow soon!

Gemma Simms – Junior Head Coach

Since the beginning of January 2016 I have taken on the role of Junior Head Coach. Most of you know me as I was previously Assistant Junior Head Coach. Claire wanted to
spend more time at her Sports Therapy Clinic and after
completing my qualifications and Sports Coaching degree I
decided coaching swimming was the career path for me.

I’ve been a member of the club since I was 7 so for
nearly 17 years! I started as a beginner and like many of you worked my way up to the senior squads. I swam in galas, open meets, county, regional and national (Welsh) competitions.

I am looking forward to spending many more years at the club as a swimmer and
more importantly a coach. The club as a whole is doing fantastically well at the minute and it is great to be a part of that. Onwards and upwards for KASC!

Award Night

What a great night the awards night was last Friday! We hope that everyone who came enjoyed themselves!

A huge thanks to Jo and Neil Freeman and Claire for putting the whole thing together and to everyone that helped with the planning, the running of the event on the night and the donation of raffle prizes and desserts.

Also, a big thank you  to Councillor Scrimshaw and Steve Edwards for giving up their time to present some of our awards and we are very grateful to Councillor Scrimshaw for the £1200 cheque to replace our much worn lane ropes. A big thank you to our President, Don Ward too for presenting awards – we have now lost count of the number of awards nights that Don has attended!

If you have any ideas for next years’ awards night or would like to get involved in the running of it or other social events, then do please let us know.

Messages from our Club Sec

Hi everyone

Well done to our two teams who have begun their Leicester Winter League journey. They both faced tough opposition but swum their hearts out and again did lots of pb’s!

The ‘A’ team were unexpectedly promoted to Division 1 because one of the other teams in that division had pulled out at short notice but the team gave a great account of themselves. We look forward to the next round so look out for Amanda’s ( team manager) email and do please reply to her about availability AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

County champs

Entries for these are now closed. This year we have again increased the number of swimmers entered so that we have almost 40 competing. Please come along to support them on the championship weekends. It would be great to see all of our supporters wearing red and cheering loudly! County swimming hats are available for those new to the counties

Sainsbury’s vouchers

These begin again at the end of January so it would be great if you could again be generous in donating them to the club. The last two years we have used them to get equipment for land training.

As a club we can only exist with a strong volunteer workforce.

If you would like to volunteer to help out with the club in any way do please let us know through the club sec email or your coaches or committee members. In particular we are looking for someone ( or perhaps 2 people) to take on the club secretary role.

We also need parents or older swimmers to become qualified officials. As we now run two teams for all leagues we need to keep a steady flow of officials coming through. We will be running an officials course at Kettering pool on a Monday evening during the early session, starting in the next couple of weeks so if you would like to train as a timekeeper or judge or would like to further your current qualification please let us know. It’s not as daunting as it sounds, honestly!
