Corby Long Course Meeting

KASC have been invited to attend the Corby Long Course Open Meet held at Corby pool on the 24/25th March 2018.

This will be a great opportunity to swim in a 50m pool and a great event to get a regional time.

The price is £6 per event and age is at December 31st 2018.

There are upper limit times (so swimmers can’t be faster than the times) and the closing date for entry forms to come in to us is Sunday 17th December 2017.

All entry forms and further information are attached.

All development and senior squad members are encouraged to enter and any academy swimmers who are interested can contact Claire for advice.

Please give your entry to your coach, myself or Amanda along with your entry fee either in cash or cheque made payable to Kettering Amateur Swimming Club. Please ensure entry forms are completed in full.

Any further problems or queries please ask or see your coach.

County championships forms will be sent out in the next day or two.

Autumn League Round 2

Well done to everyone that swam at the Autumn League Round 2.  A team came 3rd on the night and B team 5th.

Results from the weekend can now be found on the website.

We would not normally see the B team with the A team in round 2 but I have asked why and it is a random draw for some clubs at venues.  Not a great venue for swimmers of Spectators

B team - 19 PB’s which is great only 3 DQ’s

Well done to Euan Chatburn swimming in his first gala.

A team - 16 PB’s which is great, 4 DQ’s, Please note down the PB’s

Thank you to all the swimmers, you all got the right lane and with a lack of space you all behaved very well.  Thank you to all those who helped out.

Junior Swimmer of the Month - Oct 17

The first winner of October’s Junior Swimmer of the Month is Harris Chacksfield. Harris has only been with the club for 6 months and in this time he has progressed to the final stage of the Academy. He always trains hard and gives his best in everything he is asked to do during training sessions. Harris entered 2 events at the first session of the club champs and picked up a bronze medal and a 4th place – not bad going for his first ever champs! Congratulations Harris.

The second recipient of this month’s award is Magenta Kenyon. Over the last year Magenta has progressed through the Academy and into the Development 1 squad. Magenta has a fantastic attitude towards her training and always put in 100%. She listens to her coaches and is always keen to learn and improve. Magenta has also started competing in galas and always puts in a great performance on the night. She will swim the races she has been picked for and has been quite a busy swimmer in recent galas! Keep up the good work Magenta!

Latest updates

Our latest updates –

Leicester League last Sat – well done to our ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams who came 3rd and 5th on Saturday. Don’t forget to check your times against the county champs qualifying times that we sent out last week.

Can everyone who was there on Saturday please check their T-bag t-shirts – Jacob Jarvis lost his during the evening – his name was on it – if you do find it please help us reunite it with Jacob!

If you didn’t see it, there was a lovely article and photo in the Evening Telegraph about the James Kirton evening – you can find it at

Club champs – the second session of our annual club champs is on this Saturday 18th November at CORBY POOL again – the post code is NN17 1QB. Swimmer registration is between 5.30 and 5.45pm with warm-up at 6.00pm. Let’s make this session even better than the first when we had almost a 100 personal bests!!! Raffle prizes and cakes will again be gratefully accepted. Do bring the family along to cheer on our swimmers!! There is a small car parking cost. Don’t forget we are donating what we raise at the champs to the ‘Crazy Hats’ charity.

Time badges won’t be on sale this weekend but keep a note of your times so you can check them the following week when Faye and Paul will be selling them again. These badges ( there are about 60 to collect!) are a great way of showing how your times are progressing. Any times swimmers achieve at galas or timing sessions can be used to achieve the badges. The form is on the KASC website.

A reminder that swimmers should also be checking their times against the county champs qualifying times ( sent out last week). Some of our swimmers have already achieved some qualifying times and some have also achieved regional qualifying times so let’s hope we get lots more over the next 3 champs sessions!!

Northants Sports Awards – thanks from Carol Simms for all the good wishes from everyone. Though she didn’t win the overall county award ( a chap who had been with his football club for 70 years won!) she was very proud to represent KASC

Junior Swimmer of the Month - Sept 17

This month I really struggled to choose 2 swimmers for the award. I have been updating the objective sheets for all swimmers in every stage and I am very pleased with the amount of ticks that I have had to fill in! I was very proud of all those swimmers who participated in this month’s Academy Gala and there were some brilliant performances. This just illustrates the progression that all swimmers are making. The effort levels put in during Academy sessions is high and we have a great group of swimmers. Therefore, I would like to say a big Well Done to ALL ACADEMY SWIMMERS this month – keep up the hard work all of you!
