Firstly I would like to thank everyone that helped on poolside. Another successful gala, we came 2nd overall but came away with 19 PB's which was fantastic. We did pick up 6 time faults (TF) which is great for the swimmers as this means that they achieved PB's but not so good for the team as it meant that we didnt get any points for those events. A special mention to Ruth Warwick as this was her first gala for Kettering and swam really well and came away with one of the 6 1st places achieved in the 11/u 50m free so well done to her. The other victories came from the mixed 11/u 4 x 1 medley relay (Alice Sharman, Oliver Moisey, Maisie Green and Sean Marshall), Kate Buckley 13/u 50m free, Hannah Marshall 13/u 50m brst, Maisie Green 14+ 100m Fly and Charlotte Peterson-Buckley 14+ 100m Brst. Well done to all the swimmers and thanks again to everyone that helped on poolside.
Thanks to everyone that helped on poolside and well done to all the swimmers. We came 4th overall out of 16 teams which was excellent especially when most of you were swimming out of age. We came away with three 1st places, Maisie Green 11/u 50m Backstroke also achieveing a 2nd in the 11/u 50m Butterfly, Aiden Lloyd 13/u 50m Freestyle and Adam Taylor Open 50m Freestyle so really well done to them as we were against some tough opposition. We achieved 23 out of 34 top eight positions which was fantastic. Special mention to Courtney and Emily Wilson who competed in their first gala for Kettering and both achieved PB's so really well done to them. 8 PB's were achieved on the night which is great as it is always difficult to swim in a 50m pool. I have converted the times using the pullbuoy conversion table which is only a guide so will not be 100% accurate but gives you an idea of times achieved. Well done again on some great swims and thanks again to everyone that helped.
It was an unusual one as the results were on times and not positions so 100% had to be given in every swim and you were only allowed to swim in one individual but had to swim in both relays in the age group you swam the individual. Unfortunately we only had one open girl swimmer which meant our 15/u girls had to swim in thier age group and the Open age group (Charlotte Peterson-Buckley, Connie Green and Rebecca Orwin) which meant alot of swims for them, thank you so much for the 110% effort you put in over the night and suprisingly achieved consistent times. Also thanks to Emma Turner who also had to swim in her age group and the 15/u's as we had a swimmer drop out a few days before. We came third overall which was fantastic behind Braunstone and Northampton. We came away with six individual 1st places Sarah Kings 11/u 50m Free, Kate Buckley 11/u 50m Back, Aiden Lloyd 13/u 50 Free, Rebecca Orwin 15/u 50m Free, James Keen 15/u 50m Fly and Adam Taylor Open 50m Free so really well done to them and our 11/u girls relay team (Maisie Green, Kate Buckley, Gemma Vaugha and Sarah Kings) did the double in the 4 x 50 medlay and 4 x 50 Free relays. We also followed these up with eight 2nd places. 10 PB's were achieved on the night Tom Robinson achieving two of these in the first leg of the 4 x 50 free relay and 50m backstroke individual swim, so well done to him, also Luke Newton gained two PB's in the backstroke leg of the 4 x 50 Medley relay, then later on in his 50m backstroke individual, well done to him too. At the end they gave out trophies for age group wins and our 11/u girls team (Maisie Green, Kate Buckley, Gemma Vaughan and Sarah Kings) came away with the trophy for fastest 11/u girls team (including individuals and relays) well done to them lets hope they can carry it forward to the Final of the Leicester Diddy League this Saturday. Good luck to all the team. Well done to everyone that swam and thanks again to all that helped on poolside.
Firstly I would like to thank all the parents for the fantastic support, from where we were you all looked fab in your red T-shirts etc, I think the children were very proud of you all for giving them such support, as I would imagine you of them for swimming so fantastically and keeping a 100% record of no DQ's. We finished 2nd behind Melton Mowbray but gave them a good run for their money. 2nd out of 23 teams is fantastic 1 place better than last year. 18 PB's were achieved on the night so we definately gave it our best shot. We had 8 1st places and 16 2nd places but so many of the races were too close to call and alot of the time we were missing out on the touch. I can safely say that the children had a great time as did we and the behaviour and team spirit was superb, I think they are all looking forward to the bowling now. Thanks to everyone that helped on poolside, it makes it easier for me when I know the organising of the swimmers is in capable hands. Really sorry for the delay of the results. If I dont see you before the holdays hope you have a fantastic break.
Well what can I say what a fantastic gala. Thank you to everyone that helped out on poolside always much appreciated. I think we can safely say that all the children really enjoyed it especially the cannon at the end it was deafening in there. The behaviour and team spirit was excellent. A special mention to Molly Saxby and Mia Clarke who swam for the very first time for Kettering thank you and well done to them. We came FIRST overall with a very convincing win, dominating the 9yrs and 11/u age groups. We achieved 18 first places with Maisie Green achieving a double individual victory in the 11/u 25m Back and 11/u 25m Fly. The other double victories came from the 11/u boys (Michael Wenban, Daniel Young, Ryan Napier, Adam Roberts) and 11/u girls (Maisie Green, Sarah Kings, Kate Buckley, Gemma Vaughan) freestyle and medlay relays. Triple victories came from the 9yrs boys and 9yrs girls freestyle and medlay relay and their 9yr cannon. And to finish off the gala we came away with a win in the 16 x 1 cannon. There were 14 PB's from individual swims and 1st leg of relays so we were certainly on form. Lets hope we can carry it forward to the 2nd round at Hinckley. Thank you once again to everyone that helped and well done to all the swimmers.
Two new club records were set at the County Championships this weekend. Stephen Wenban did 5.02.64 in the 400m Freestyle and Adam Taylor did 5.09.09 in the 400m IM - Well done
