Well done again everyone we came 2nd overall which is another great result. We were in a very difficult lane and sometimes couldnt hear the starter so to come away with 15 Individual PB's (PB's can also be obtained from the first leg of the relay) was fantastic. We also achieved 6 individual wins and they came from Maisie Green 11/u 50m Back, Michael Wenban 11/u 50m Fly, Matthew Collins 15/u 100m Brst, Georgina Lockwood Open 100m Free, Dan Johnson Open 100m Back and Joel Smith Open 100m Fly. We also achieved a first in the 15/u Medley Relay Tom Robinson, Matthew Collins, Stephen Wenban and Tiarnan Nelis. We also achieved 14 2nd places, so well done again everyone and thanks to everyone that helped on poolside.
What a fantastic evening, I think you would all agree. To come 2nd was a great achievement. The past few years we have come close but always been 3rd so to bring the Runners Up trohpy back to Kettering is brilliant. It was great to see all the team at the shallow end cheering on each other, what a great start to our Diddy season. It was good to see our Junior Captains (Dominic Whalley, Ryan Napier, Sarah Kings and Maisie Green) warming the swimmers up at the start and in good voice during the gala setting an excellent example to the younger swimmers.
We had three swimmers competing for the very first time for Kettering in a gala George Wykes, Thomas Wiggins and Johnathan Arnold, well done to them for producing some excellent swims. We came away with 11 2nd places, 13 3rd places, zero disqualifications and 13 individual PB's (not including relay splits).
Well done to Maisie Green who achieved 2 2nd places in her individuals 10yrs 50m fly and 10yrs 50m back, also well done to the boys 9yrs relay team who came 2nd in bothe their relays (Jamie Vaughan, Johnathan Arnold, George Wykes and Thomas Wiggins) and also well done to our boys 11yrs who also achieved 2 2nd places in thier relays (Adam Roberts, Ryan Napier, Michael Wenban, Dominic Whalley).
We shall be having a picture took by the Evening Telegraph, I shall let you know date and time as soon as I know. Thanks to everyone who helped on poolside. Please keep the following dates free as they are the dates for the Leicester Diddy League. Well done everyone and thanks again.
Howard Farrow, Jacqueline Farrow and Louisa Wallace - Howard took 3rd Place for the 25 Fly, Jacqueline took 3rd Place for the 50 fly, Louisa took 2nd Place for 100 Back and 100 Free and 3rd Place for 50 Breast
Well done to all the swimmers and thanks to everyone who has helped during the three rounds. I think you will agree it was a great gala and we came away with a fantastic result, 2nd to City of Cambridge on the night and second overall after the three rounds.
This means we have been promoted and shall be competing in Division 1 next year, it will be very tough but im sure we will be up for the challenge. On the night we achieved 12 1st places with Adam Smith doing the double in the Open 100m IM and 100M Brst and the girls 11/u relay team also doing the double in the Medley and Freestyle relay (Maisie Green, Kate Buckley, Gemma Vaughan and Sarah Kings). Maisie Green and Sarah Kings also managed 1st places in their individuals Maisie in the 11/u 50m Fly and Sarah with a great PB in the 11/u 50m Freestyle.
The other wins came from Ryan Napier producing a great PB in the 11/u 50m Freestyle, Connie Green in the 13/u 100m Brst, James Keen 15/u 100m Brst, Adam Taylor Open 100m Freestyle, the boys 11/u Medley Relay (Fraser Harrop, Adam Roberts, Michael Wenban, Ryan Napier) and the Boys 15/u Freestyle Relay (Tom Robinson, Stephen Wenban, James Keen and Adam Reed).
We also achieved 12 2nd places which was fantastic. It has been a very busy and tiring couple of months for all our swimmers with champs, galas etc so to finish off with a promotion is outstanding you should all be very, very proud of yourselves.
Well done and thanks again.
Thanks to everyone that helped on poolside. Well done to all the swimmers there were some great PB's achieved and some excellent swimming.
A special well done to Lauren Wykes as this was her very first gala for Kettering and was a valuable part of the 11/u relay team also achieving PB's with her split times. Also thanks to Chloe Attwood for stepping in on the night and swimming the Open 100m breast and achieving a great PB.
We came comfortably 3rd with Leicester White's and Braunstone A ahead of us. We achieved 9 1st places and 6 2nd places. Aiden Lloyd achieved two individual victories in the 13/u 50m free and 13/u 50m back which was fantastic well done Aiden. The other individual wins came from Maisie Green 11/u 50m Fly, George Willis in the 13/u 50m Fly, Matt Collins in the 15/u 100m Brst and Adam Taylor in the Open 100m Free. Hopefully we have scored enough points to put us in a good position in the League.
We were missing 5 of our top 'A' swimmers which I hope will be available in the next round which is on the 7th February, I shall be sending out the team list within the next couple of days so check your emails. Well done and thanks again to everyone that helped.
