Just a reminder that the deadline for the champs entry forms is THIS TUESDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER. You can give them to your coach or any committee member. Cheques or cash only please (cheques made payable to Kettering Amateur Swimming Club)
We still need people to volunteer to help. In particular we need parents to do the drinks for each evening and someone to help Jo Freeman on the door. We also need someone to do the announcing for the first evening ( training will be given)
We are looking for lots of raffle prizes. Again, these can be given to committee members or your coach as soon as you wish. I have quite a few people who have offered to do cakes to sell on each night but we do need more! Please bring these on each day of the champs.
Please find attached the information for the club championships at the Waendel Leisure Centre, Wellingborough. Please read everything carefully. We would encourage all swimmers to enter but if you aren’t sure, please discuss with your coach. There are medals to be won at the championships and then awards to be given out at the awards night in the new year as well. You have to be in it to win it!!!!
Champs dates are ( all Saturdays) - 22nd and 29th October, 5th November,3rd December. Remember, a swimmer must have become a member before 21st August this year to be able to enter.
Closing date for entry forms is Tuesday 20th September. Please do ask for help if you are not sure.
You can hand forms to your coach OR to Carol and Amanda at Kettering (at the Sunday and Monday sessions) or to Hilary at Oundle sessions.
This year, for the first time, we are running a prize draw for the swimmers with their entry forms. So, if a swimmer just enters races in one of the 4 sessions, that’s one prize draw entry, if they enter races in 2 sessions that’s two prize draw entries and so on.
For such a big event, we obviously will need lots of help from parents so if you can help in any way then please let us know as soon as possible. If our parents who are officials could also let us know which sessions they are available for please.
A great big thank you to EVERYONE who took part, helped out, made cakes, contributed tombola prizes etc etc for the open day last Sunday. It was a tremendous success, especially as we have never done anything like this before and we are already looking at planning next years’ event! Our swimmers were fantastic in everything they did and showed themselves to be wonderful ambassadors for our club. (they loved the bouncy castles too!). Our coaches worked tirelessly to show why KASC is going from strength to strength and a big thankyou to our parents who worked non-stop and didn’t seem to mind giving up a Sunday to make the day a success! Luckily, the weather was kind too!
The parents of the non-members that I spoke to were really impressed with what our club can offer and their children loved the medals and certificates.
The water polo lads had an impressive stall with videos running and ran a mini-polo session and senior session later and hopefully they have gained some new members! Many thanks to Russel for organising the visit of the fire engine to add to the occasion.
There was a steady stream of buyers for the tableful of cakes that were donated and the tombola ‘machine’ worked non-stop throughout the day with an impressive display of prizes from large to small with something for everyone.
We made £265 on the day and more importantly, there were a number of children on the day who are now keen to join our club.
I do have some cake boxes with names on that I will get back to their owners but I have a few others and a white tray that I’m not sure whose they are. If you let me know who, I can get them back to you.
KASC are pleased to be competing in the county sprint meet to be held at Rugby pool on September 17th.
Attached are the program of events, qualifying times and entry form.
I would encourage all to enter if you have qualifying times as it is a great meet and is a licensed meet so a chance for a regional time.
It is £4 an event which needs to be paid in cash or by cheque to Kettering Amateur Swimming Club by August 27th.
All entry forms and accompanying payment should go to your coach or myself by this date at the latest.
If you have any questions or problems please see your coach.
Please see the results section of the website for the results from last week's time trial events. Both evenings ran very smoothly and we had a huge number of PBs so well done to all the swimmers. Also a big thankyou to all the helpers and time keepers!
These times can be used for time badges and entries for Club Champs and County Sprints, with the exception of times that have a comment in the DQ column. However we will still keep the DQ times on record and the children can use them as a guide of what to aim for next time.
